Lets talk Florida Superstars Dancesport Championships!
I want to point out that Chelsea and I did not stay at the hotel which is unfortunate because it was immaculate. From the moment you walked into the Front Lobby you knew the event was going to be special. Glass artwork, sitting areas tucked away that made you feel VIP and that's just the front lobby! We immediately saw signs directing us to the registration desk and main ballroom of the Superstars event. We proceeded to check in, the staff was helpful and it was nice seeing some familiar faces. As we made our way to the ballroom we had to pass through an outside atrium with a huge waterfall running next to it. I'll tell you the sound of this waterfall was so relaxing it was enough to momentarily calm my nerves from the upcoming competition.
As we entered the building the ballroom was in, you could see vendors upon vendors filling the hallway with Ballroom and Latin gowns and anything you could hope for as far as costuming goes. Gave the the doorman our tickets and made our way into the ballroom...Now for the FUN part! This Room was DECKED OUT!!! The lighting was cool the backdrop to the entire room was so colorful, and the floor was awesome! The other thing i wanted to point out was the size of the competition itself. We competed at the Superstars comp 3 years ago and it was not this BIG. It has grown so much and the venue changed, we loved the seating, they had the standard set up that you will see at most competitions dinner tables set up around the floor....BUT! I really like the added bonus of putting risers on the outside edges of the room. The setup was so, that no matter where in the room you were assigned you had a great view of the floor and all the action.
As far as the actual competing part of the competition the level of dancing was awesome especially in our division. I felt good dancing amongst such great dancers. When you compete your placement isn't always relevant. It's who shows up to the competition that's important, and we had some awesome competitors show up! Another detail that can't be forgotten is the fact that THE ROOM WAS PACKED!!! Its so nice to do performances in a room filled with people who know how to cheer! Chelsea and I received 3rd out of 6 couples and were really happy with our performance. Sometimes you walk off the floor and you just know that you have made all of your hard work pay off. Its that feeling and the few hours after that, that make this whole experience worth while.
To finish things up our overall view of the competition was that it was well organized (every detail thought of) it was beautiful you could really see the hard work that had gone into making it so! And it was very high class from the venue to the ballroom to the quality of dance this event was high class!
